What Is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning union – the union of body, mind and soul.
This idea of union is not just philosophical. It speaks to a lived experience of wholeness. In each moment of practice, we are invited to become fully present with whatever we are feeling – physically, emotionally and energetically – as we move and breathe.
In the West, yoga is often seen as little more than stretching. While postural practice (asana) is one part of yoga, strength and flexibility are simply natural by-products of a deeper process. The true purpose of yoga is presence. It is about learning to listen inwardly, to become more attuned to the body, and to meet ourselves exactly where we are.
This kind of mindful movement increases embodied awareness which naturally helps to prevent injury. Going deeper, it also gives us the opportunity to reconnect with the body’s innate intelligence. With the right guidance, we can begin to build a more compassionate relationship with ourselves, one breath and one moment at a time.
What is Forrest Yoga?

Forrest Yoga, developed by Ana Forrest, is a powerful evolution of traditional Hatha yoga, specifically adapted to meet the needs of modern bodies and sensitive nervous systems.
Combining breath-led movement, core connection, and mindful sequencing, it supports physical and emotional tension release, and deep self-awareness.
You don’t need to be flexible or experienced; just open to slowing down, breathing deeply, and being present with your body.

What You’ll Learn & Receive

In each class class, you will:

-
Explore foundational Forrest Yoga postures designed to unwind common postural imbalances and support long-term spinal health
-
Use conscious breathwork to calm and focus your mind, and regulate your nervous system
-
Cultivate core strength, balance, and flexibility in a gradual, steady way
-
Increase your embodied awareness and capacity to stay present with what’s arising
-
Experience deep rest and inner stillness through a guided Sound Journey with instruments such as singing bowls, flutes, chimes, and voice
Why This Practice?

This class is especially supportive for:

-
Highly sensitive people (HSPs)
-
Those living with fatigue, burnout, or chronic stress and tension
-
Individuals navigating trauma or emotional dysregulation
-
Anyone seeking a deeply restorative, embodied yoga practice
-
People who feel depleted, disconnected, or caught in fight/flight/freeze mode
-
Yogis who are craving less performance and more presence
-
Or anyone that just wants to explore yoga & feel better in body and mind

The Sound Journey

We will incorporate Sound Healing into each class, and also close with a soothing Sound Healing Journey, using carefully selected instruments to guide you into deep relaxation. This final integration phase helps your whole system absorb the benefits of your practice and invites a profound sense of peace; often leading to deeper sleep, emotional clarity, and a reset of the entire nervous system.
The Space

Emma offers a warm, inclusive and non-judgemental space where all genders and all levels of experience are welcome. You are encouraged to move at your own pace, adapt postures as needed, and honour your body’s wisdom throughout the practice.
You are invited to rest when you need, take what serves you, and let this be a practice of reconnection.

This class isn’t about forcing yourself — it’s about meeting yourself with breath, presence, and compassion.
